Project Divinas

This is our story of Divination.

A couple of years ago, a marvelously funny and adventurous woman, named Trina, started a small gathering with her closest friends. They learned of the moon and her many phases and how to channel the vitality of those phases into their lives—with one another’s support.

That gathering soon grew to include a family of truly mystical sisters:
Nancy, the eldest, followed by Leslie AKA Lucha, Amy the guru of the kitchen and gardens and lastly, the mysterious Jackie. Las Perazas, I like to call them.

It was here, at La Casa de Perazas, in Mid-City, that I joined the magnificence.

During this time, I was experiencing an extremely painful reveal in my relationship.

I was heartbroken and in a state of shock that would later be a massively transformative time in my life.

I learned many things about myself and about life. I also began to have a profound appreciation for the cycles of nature: the seasons and the moon and its many phases. What I found most fascinating was learning how to surrender and flow with those cycles and their emerging energies, no matter how turbulent.

After attending a few new moon gatherings, I decided I wanted to embrace what I’d learned and absorbed and host one of my own.

It was here, at my first gathering in October of 2018, that I was honored and blessed to have my youngest sister and best friend, Carlee, join us. She was by my side as I dashed around from store-to-store to make my vision of our space come to life. No complaints just love and support!

This gathering also marked the special day I met another pair of divine sisters, the celestial Anita and the creative, Lesley. Both are sweet and incredibly soft-spoken.

I admired their vulnerability, their wisdom and how much each woman owned and embodied her own divine inner

Magick.

          It was spellbinding.

Hand in hand, we have passed this burgeoning tradition to one another. It has flourished to 12 of us.

We have performed our full moon rituals on rooftops, in forests and at the ocean as we all encircled a fire.

Together, we’ve built a community. Withces, Brujas—call it what you will.

I call us and this project

Divinas because that word moved me—much like our communing does.

What we do is spiritual, magickal, intentional and from a space of love and evolution.

Curious about what the hell it is we do, exactly?

1. With the help of my Divinas and my beautiful sister, Carlee, we create the space, beginning with the altar—which happens to be the most deliciously creepy little doll chair. I found it in our “communal” space in my apartment building just days before my first hosting experience.

See… straight up creepy doll chair magick!

The altar contains four vessels to honor the elements: a sealed jar for air, a candle for fire, another jar full of water and lastly, a jar full of flowers to represent the earth.

Next we set up our meditation cushions for comfort, pop open some wine and settle in.

2. Our divinations commence with a cleansing. We often do this for one another with either sage or Palo Santo. This is to clear our auras so we can be available to receive the magick of both the moon and from one another. Whomever is being cleansed will recite a chant to welcome the cleansing.

3. We follow this with a short meditation, allowing all of that newly cleansed energy to circulate.

4. We MANIFEST like a MF.

How do we do this?

We get clear about our intention(s) with the help of a short writing exercise with a prompt that is often guided by a combination of collaborative ideas, the revered work of Tanaaz Chubb of foreverconscious.com, and the astrological sign that the moon is under on that given day.

5. Lastly, as the full moon is a time of celebrating what we’ve cultivated throughout the month and a release of what no longer belongs with us on our journey, we have us a little fun. On my first hostessing run, we wrote what we wanted to release on star-shaped balloons and then released them into the night sky, simultaneously! It was enchanting to see a cluster of balloons be released and dance in the night sky, together.

It felt liberating!

4. THEEEEN…We drinks the wines!!

AND SO IT IS!

Women are Divine beings. I mention and praise my own sex often, not to promote exclusivity, but for some time, being around Women proved to be a safe space for me.

A space I needed to heal and come back to myself and my Divine feminine power. We have had men in attendance and welcome and celebrate men and their healing and celebrating as well!

From my heart! This is the beginning of:
